Statement
Ann Harrold Taylor is an American artist based in Berkeley, California. Her work encompasses the priority of adventure through process, open ended addition and subtraction, a refusal to adhere to any preconceived notions or rules, and a search for surprise endings arrived at by emphasizing even exaggerating feeling, emotion, color, line, metaphor, reality, dreams, memory, figuration, narrative, abstraction, blurred allusions, all gathered on the open fields of paper or canvas through endless ‘tries’ amidst the layered gathering of obfuscated or highly intentional possibility pursued by handmade mark making while always celebrating the variability and lush sensuality of the medium. Drawing is the great play of immediacy and unknown unmapped daily energy, a constant arena of suggestion. The rest is full on paint love.
